Behavioral interview techniques, assessing candidate qualifications, and making data-driven hiring decisions.
The Problem
The problem was that the HR professionals and hiring managers struggled with conducting effective interviews that objectively assess candidate qualifications. Traditional interview techniques often led to subjective decision-making, which resulted in poor hiring decisions, and misalignment between the candidate's skills and the role requirements. Without a structured approach, interviewers risked relying on gut feelings or first impressions, leading to inconsistent evaluations and hiring biases.
The solution was to implement behavioral interview techniques that focus on past behavior to predict future performance, helping interviewers make more informed, data-driven hiring decisions.
The ADDIE instructional design model was used to ensure the course is well-rounded and effective.
Analysis
In the Analysis phase, I defined the learning goals and objectives for the course.
Learner Needs:
Learners need to conduct structured, objective interviews using behavioral techniques.
They must know how to develop targeted questions that reveal key competencies.
Learners need to be able to evaluate candidate responses effectively using decision matrices for informed, data-driven hiring decisions.
Design
In the Design phase, I planned the course structure, content, and learning activities.
Each module was designed to progressively build on the previous one, leading to a cumulative understanding of the course material.
Relevant multimedia, interactive activities, quizzes, and exercises were planned for an engaging and effective learning experience.
Development
Interactive Components:
Knowledge Checks: Quick quizzes to ensure comprehension.
Drag-and-Drop Activities: Allow learners to match interview questions to competencies.
Decision Matrix Builder: Learners will engage in building their own decision matrix, which can be scored.
Assessments: Final quiz to assess understanding across all modules.
Implementation
In the Implementation phase, the course was launched and delivered to the learners.
Platform: Articulate Rise 360 was used to ensure the course is fully interactive, self-paced, and accessible from multiple devices.
Course Progression: Learners moved through the course sequentially, completing each module and its corresponding activities and assessments.
Learner Support: Discussion forums, and chat support, for technical issues and additional assistance was offered.
Evaluation
In the Evaluation phase, the effectiveness of the course was assessed through learner feedback and performance data.
Both formative and summative evaluations was used to ensure continuous improvement.
Formative Evaluation:
Knowledge Checks and Quizzes, Interactive Activities:
Summative Evaluation:
Final Quiz, Learner Feedback Survey
Post-Course Assessment: Optional follow-up survey after learners have applied the techniques in real interviews.
